Daily Speaking Practice— for Spanish fluency

The Calistan Method

Almost all students struggle when speaking

Even after years of study, most students leave college unable to speak Spanish with any fluency. That’s not a failure of the classroom—it’s simply a reflection of what speaking requires: daily, personalized practice that’s hard to deliver in a group setting.

The Calistan Method is designed to change that. It adds something essential to a university education: a simple, sustainable way for students to practice speaking every day. As a supplement to classroom instruction, it gives them a clear path to fluency—one they can follow during the semester and long after it ends.

A fresh approach to the path toward fluency

The Calistan Method builds on classroom instruction, providing a structured, daily way to practice the one skill that’s hardest to teach in a group setting: speaking.

Students translate and say dozens of sentences aloud each day—reinforcing grammar, recall, and pronunciation through repetition. It’s fully self-directed, built on familiar tech, and designed to work in parallel with university instruction. With consistent daily practice, students finally begin speaking more naturally and confidently.

Why Offer This to Your Students?

Some students want more—and this provides it. The Calistan Method gives motivated learners a structured way to keep improving outside the classroom. It helps them apply what they’re studying through consistent daily speaking—so they retain more, gain confidence, and build new skills.

It’s not for everyone—and that’s fine. But a small number of motivated learners will fully embrace this opportunity and benefit deeply. It’s about supporting and inspiring students with the tools to achieve their goals—and helping them carry their classroom learning into life beyond school.

For Spanish departments, the benefits are just as clear. This pilot supports your students without adding to your workload—and offers a modern, flexible resource to strengthen classroom learning:

No faculty time required – The pilot is fully self-contained and managed independently after initial connection.

Complements the classroom– Reinforces core learning in class and extends beyond it with a focus on daily speaking.

Introduces a new study tool – The platform can also be used to support students with their classroom assignments.

Built for today’s learners – Uses the latest technology and AI-powered tools students naturally embrace.

Accessible and inclusive – Designed for all students, with no tech expertise required and need-based scholarships available.

Join the Fall 2025 University Pilot

We’re inviting a small number of universities to participate in a Fall 2025 pilot of the Calistan Method. This is a pilot not only for us, but for your department and the students who participate. Together, we’ll test the program’s effectiveness and assess its alignment with your instructional goals.

Our aim is to support a group of 6 or more motivated students at each university, provide all necessary tools and support, and collect meaningful feedback at the end of the semester. That feedback will be summarized and shared with you—helping determine whether a broader rollout could be valuable in the future.

This is a unique opportunity to offer your students something new—and shape its future design. Participating simply requires identifying a point of contact and supporting basic promotion to your students. We’ll handle everything else.
